CHANDLER AIRPORT DAYZ
APRIL 5-6, 2014
OPEN SATURDAY AT 9:AM SUNDAY AT 8:AM

This is our 7th year to provide this great day for the airport and its supporters. This letter is a little info on what we are doing and how your support can lend to its success. If nothing else just come hang out at the Airport.

The purpose of Airport Dayz is to promote to the Chandler public the airports role in our community. The Chandler Airport Alliance and Chandler Air Service are the instigators of this day at the airport. The City of Chandler has got behind us to help with preparation and promotion. We have a team effort going. Come out, bring the family, and spread the word as best you can. There is no charge for parking or admission.

WHATS GOING ON

This event is not advertised all over the valley just the southeast Valley. We are concentrating on the local communities. We wish to promote the airport, its pilots, local aircraft, businesses and related aviation activities that can be found here. The Commemorative Air Force will be advertising all over the Valley area and bringing their fleet of WWII aircraft for rides and displays.

There is an Airplane Poster Contest being conducted in the Chandler schools with the winner announced at Airport Dayz. The winner gets a ride in a Biplane or a family ride in a "normal" airplane.

Ramp space and Aircraft rides

We have plenty of ramp space. Three large WWII aircraft, along with several smaller WWII aircraft will be doing rides from the Commemorative Air Force. Chandler Air Service and Quantum Helicopters will also be giving rides in helicopters and biplanes. There will be tours of the big airplanes and picture opportunities.

Aircraft Display's

We need as many, as we can muster up of the local aircraft that represent the type of aircraft based at and flown at this airport. If you have something you would like to show that's normal, exotic, homebuilt, expensive (all are, I know) please, please bring it out. There are no limitations. Put a sign on it about you, your business and/or some specs on the airplane. Those from Stellar are personally invited to bring some of your equipment over. You are the Chandler aviation community just like the Chandler Airport.

Also, we will have more vendor organizations showing their role in the Airport and the community. We hope to have more aviation related vendors, local businesses, new aircraft for example. We are open for more.

Airport and local businesses

Anyone who has a business at the airport, and those who are off airport, are welcome to set up a spot to display your stuff. We make it a practice to keep it local so when people come to Chandler and the airport they will come to your place. We look for a contribution to the cause to help defray expenses.

Classic, Antique, Exotic, and New Car Displays

The Sun Lakes Collector Car club along with some Corvette Club of Arizona people will have some machines there. We have had some other clubs show up in the past. How about a Motorcycle or two? If you have something that could use some staring at, bring it out and show it.

Live music in the hangar "ABOUT LAST NITE" will be providing some great sounds this year with great songs, music and fun, some of the folks are pilots at the airport. Check'em out on facebook.

Food and eats

The Hangar Café will be open a little longer each day with a full staff. We will have real food vendors on the ramp with Hamburgers and sandwiches, Hot Dogs, drinks and so on.

TIME FRAME FOR EXHIBITORS

We will be setting up several things Friday afternoon, including the general layout, location of food areas, hangar layout and the big airplanes. Each Saturday and Sundaymorning we would like to have aircraft arriving from 6:30 on, preferably in place by 8:00. No penalty if you are late. There will be a ramp manager and crew parking you. Do what he says. There will be a "dead Prop" line where nothing past that will have engines running. This is for arriving and departures. We will get you in and out. If you wish to leave during the day let us know when you taxi up. As a rule you cannot leave until 4:00. There will be an area for those staying and those leaving. We would prefer all aircraft stay both days but we will see you can get out and come back the next day, if you prefer. It is not necessary to be there both days. It would certainly be appreciated, though. There is no tiedowns or dirt to put in your own. So bring some chocks. If the weather gets windy or? We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

HELP NEEDED!

As usual we need help from the masses to make this work. Listed below are some areas that we need volunteers.

  1. Automobile parking. We have a much larger parking area. It will be watered by the City. We will need some help to set up the "taped off areas" on Friday. We will use people to direct parking in the morning from 7:30 am on, both Saturday andSunday. We are presently in need of a parking manager. If you are interested in helping ramrod this please let John Walkup know at w. 480-963-6420 or c. 480-688-1676.
  2. Ramp control. Parking of aircraft, display cars and crowd control. We need ramp help, all day both days, to park aircraft and cars on the ramp. Also the group will be the main crowd control. When the big airplanes crank up we need to move people around. We have ramp loud speakers to help that work. The job is the most important of all and can be done in a way people can change out during the day. We are looking for about 10-12 people for this. Kelly Wallmueller is in charge of this his number is 480-628-2452, if you can help.
  3. Clean up each night and during the day. This is usually not too much of a job but requires some attention.

There will be golf carts, radios and cell phones used to accomplish these tasks. Each area above, except the cleanup, will have managers in addition to a director of the whole affair.

If you wish to volunteer send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. orThis email address is being protected from spambots. Please try to do at least a half day and both days if possible. The remuneration for your time and talent is the pleasure you receive for helping out you fellow pilot and a pat on the back.

We will try to have an after hour's affair Saturday for all those helping. Should start around 5:00 pm.

The director of this affair is John Walkup at Chandler Air Service and is available atThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., w. 480-963-6420 c. 480-688-1676. Any questions, suggestions and/or ideas, let me know. We can still add to the agenda.

LOOK AT AIRPORT DAYZ AS A GREAT WAY TO HAVE FUN AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE AIRPORT!!!
