 grand opening of the La Garita Creek Ranch Airstrip in South Central Colora
 do. Over the last few months, a group of pilots have been working hand-in-h
 and with the ranch manager at the La Garita Creek Ranch (a former guest ran
 ch) to open the property up for recreational use. The location is impressiv
 e, about 10 miles North of Del Norte, CO. The La Garita Creek runs through 
 the property providing for lots of shade trees and fishing. Overnight guest
 s can camp in a tent or stay in one of the many cabins (reasonable rates). 
 The ranch manager is very excited to host a fly-in and see what people thin
 k of the airstrip and ranch.\n\n\nAirfield Details: This is a strip where g
 ood pilot skills and mountain experience is required. 3400ft runway (2600ft
  improved, 800ft natural rough grass), 8050 ft MSL (high DA!), lots of park
 ing, room for tents, firepit, a lodge, and a half dozen cabins. Preferred l
 anding is to the West and takeoff to the East.\n\n\nFor those who fly-in ea
 rly, a dinner will be hosted at the La Garita Trading Post Restaurant on Fr
 iday night (21st) around 6-8p. The main BBQ style dinner will be available 
 on Saturday (register to reserve a plate) Lots of nearby recreational oppor
 tunities at Penitente Canyon and the surrounding area. Additional day fligh
 ts to the Hooper Hot Springs Airstrip, Sand Dunes NP, and Quarter Circle Ci
