SUMMARY:Chandler Airport Dayz
LOCATION:KCHD Chandler
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:CHANDLER AIRPORT DAYZAPRIL 5-6, 2014\nOPEN SATURDAY AT 9:AM
SUNDAY AT 8:AM\n\nThis is our 7th year to provide this great day
for the airport and its supporters. This letter is a little info on what we
are doing and how your support can lend to its success. If nothing else ju
st come hang out at the Airport.\n \nThe purpose of Airport Dayz is to
promote to the Chandler public the airports role in our community. The Cha
ndler Airport Alliance and Chandler Air Service are the instigators of this
day at the airport. The City of Chandler has got behind us to help with pr
eparation and promotion. We have a team effort going. Come out, bring the f
amily, and spread the word as best you can. There is no charge for parking
or admission.\n\n\nWHATS GOING ON\nThis event is not advertised all over th
e valley just the southeast Valley. We are concentrating on the local commu
nities. We wish to promote the airport, its pilots, local aircraft, busines
ses and related aviation activities that can be found here. The Commemorati
ve Air Force will be advertising all over the Valley area and bringing thei
r fleet of WWII aircraft for rides and displays.\n\n\nThere is an Airplane
Poster Contest being conducted in the Chandler schools with the winner anno
unced at Airport Dayz. The winner gets a ride in a Biplane or a family ride
in a "normal" airplane.\nRamp space and Aircraft rides\nWe have plenty of
ramp space. Three large WWII aircraft, along with several smaller WWII airc
raft will be doing rides from the Commemorative Air Force. Chandler Air Ser
vice and Quantum Helicopters will also be giving rides in helicopters and b
iplanes. There will be tours of the big airplanes and picture opportunities
.\nAircraft Display's\nWe need as many, as we can muster up of the local ai
rcraft that represent the type of aircraft based at and flown at this airpo
rt. If you have something you would like to show that's normal, exotic, hom
ebuilt, expensive (all are, I know) please, please bring it out. There are
no limitations. Put a sign on it about you, your business and/or some specs
on the airplane. Those from Stellar are personally invited to bring some o
f your equipment over. You are the Chandler aviation community just like th
e Chandler Airport.\nAlso, we will have more vendor organizations showing t
heir role in the Airport and the community. We hope to have more aviation r
elated vendors, local businesses, new aircraft for example. We are open for
more.\nAirport and local businesses\nAnyone who has a business at the airp
ort, and those who are off airport, are welcome to set up a spot to display
your stuff. We make it a practice to keep it local so when people come to
Chandler and the airport they will come to your place. We look for a contri
bution to the cause to help defray expenses.\nClassic, Antique, Exotic, and
New Car Displays\nThe Sun Lakes Collector Car club along with some Corvett
e Club of Arizona people will have some machines there. We have had some ot
her clubs show up in the past. How about a Motorcycle or two? If you have s
omething that could use some staring at, bring it out and show it.\nLive mu
sic in the hangar "ABOUT LAST NITE" will be providing some great sound
s this year with great songs, music and fun, some of the folks are pilots a
t the airport. Check'em out on facebook.\nFood and eats\nThe Hangar Café wi
ll be open a little longer each day with a full staff. We will have real fo
od vendors on the ramp with Hamburgers and sandwiches, Hot Dogs, drinks and
so on.\n\n\nTIME FRAME FOR EXHIBITORS\nWe will be setting up several thing
s Friday afternoon, including the general layout, location of foo
d areas, hangar layout and the big airplanes. Each Saturday and&n
bsp;Sundaymorning we would like to have aircraft arriving from 6:30&nb
sp;on, preferably in place by 8:00. No penalty if you are late. There
will be a ramp manager and crew parking you. Do what he says. There will be
a "dead Prop" line where nothing past that will have engines running. This
is for arriving and departures. We will get you in and out. If you wish to
leave during the day let us know when you taxi up. As a rule you cannot le
ave until 4:00. There will be an area for those staying and those leav
ing. We would prefer all aircraft stay both days but we will see you can ge
t out and come back the next day, if you prefer. It is not necessary to be
there both days. It would certainly be appreciated, though. There is no tie
downs or dirt to put in your own. So bring some chocks. If the weather gets
windy or? We will cross that bridge when we come to it.\n\n\nHELP NEEDED!\
nAs usual we need help from the masses to make this work. Listed below are
some areas that we need volunteers.\nAutomobile parking. We have a much lar
ger parking area. It will be watered by the City. We will need some help to
set up the "taped off areas" on Friday. We will use people to direct
parking in the morning from 7:30 am on, both Saturday a
ndSunday. We are presently in need of a parking manager. If you are interes
ted in helping ramrod this please let John Walkup know at w. 480-963-6
420 or c. 480-688-1676.Ramp control. Parking of aircraft, display
cars and crowd control. We need ramp help, all day both days, to park airc
raft and cars on the ramp. Also the group will be the main crowd control. W
hen the big airplanes crank up we need to move people around. We have ramp
loud speakers to help that work. The job is the most important of all and c
an be done in a way people can change out during the day. We are looking fo
r about 10-12 people for this. Kelly Wallmueller is in charge of this his n
umber is 480-628-2452, if you can help.Clean up each night and du
ring the day. This is usually not too much of a job but requires some atten
tion. There will be golf carts, radios and cell phones used to accomplish th
ese tasks. Each area above, except the cleanup, will have managers in addit
ion to a director of the whole affair.\nIf you wish to volunteer send an em
