WITH THEIR LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY (BASIC, OR ADVANCED)
.\n\n\nAn electronic flight bag such as Foreflight and Garmin Pilot can gre
atly increase both situational awareness and safety but only if the pilot i
s proficient in their use. Attempting to learn the application while you ar
e flying the airplane has the exact opposite effect and can be dangerous. T
his workshop is intended to make you familiar with the application so that
it is an aid in the cockpit and not a distraction.\n\n\nPreflight planning
is the first step in a successful and safe flight. Electronic Flight Bags c
an simplify the process of preflight planning and bring most of the informa
tion you need such as runway lengths, fuel required, expected weather, and
other vital information to one place. This workshop will teach you how to u
se the EFB to efficiently plan your intended flights.\n\n\nOnce in the air,
situational awareness is the key to the successful completion of the fligh
t. Learn how the EFB can bring traffic and weather into your cockpit and he
lp you avoid midair collisions and inadvertant flight into IMC, one of the
most deadly mistakes pilots can make - even those with an instrument rating
. In addition, your facilitator will cover overall use of the EFB in all ph
ases of flight.\n\n\nRunway incursions continue to be a significant problem
for the GA community. Come learn how the aviation applications covered in
this workshop can help, so you do not become the next runway incursion stat
istic.\n\n\nPilot airspace deviations, including pilots 'busting' TFRs, are
another area of concern for the GA community. The aviation applications co
vered in this workshop can provide a significant increase in situational aw
areness with respect to airspace. Learn how to make use of these tools to e
nsure you are complying with airspace requirements.\n\n\nEqual Access Infor
mation:\nThe FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) is committed to providing equal acc
ess to this meeting/event for all participants. If you need alternative for
mats or services because of a disability, please communicate your request a
s soon as possible with the person in the “Contact Information”
area of the meeting/event notice. Note that two weeks is usually required
to arrange services.\n\n\nCredit Applicability:\n1 Credit for Basic Knowled
ge Topic 3\n2 Credits for Advanced Knowledge Topic 2\n2 Credits for Master
Knowledge Topic 2\n
