 and RAF friends in the St. George area have invited all back country pilots
  to a "Runway Clean Up Day" at the Grand Gulch Mine Landing Strip on Saturd
 ay, Feb. 3. The landing strip is reported to be in good condition and will 
 not need much other than some weed removal and sprucing up the parking area
 .\n\n\nGrand Gulch is the site of a small but prolific and historic over 10
 0-year old copper mine near the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The landing 
 strip is a short walk from the old mine. Many of the historic buildings sti
 ll stand and there are even two abandoned "Euclid" dump trucks that were us
 ed at the mine. It is reported that these trucks were used in the construct
 ion of the Hoover Dam and were then sold to the mine owners.\n\n\nThe landi
 ng strip is located at N 36° 19.30" W 113° 47.16" at about 4500' MS
 L. It is suitable for most higher performance airplanes. Pilots not familia
 r with the landing strip might want to consider a check out by an experienc
