ief Description:\n\n**This is a hybrid meeting. Please see below for s
pecific instructions before registering.**\n\n\n Since the Air Co
mmerce Act of 1926, the process of obtaining a pilot medical has become inc
reasingly complex, intrusive, and involved. The FAA’s present system of obt
aining a medical certificate involves a large number of questions about pos
sible conditions which can result in deferral or denial of a medical certif
icate. Since it is now possible for airmen to fly using Basic Med or light
sport privileges, medical applications should be handled with care to prese
rve these opportunities. \n\nThis talk will review the FAA medical app
lication process and how to best proceed in the event of potential medical
concerns. It will also discuss alternative ways to fly without a current me
dical certificate. \n\nSpeaker: Peter N. Steinmetz, MD, PhD is a resea
rch neurologist who is a GA pilot and flight instructor in single engine la
nd airplanes and gliders with an instrument rating.\n \n\n\nEAA/VMC Cl
ub, through the EAA's global Chapter structure, provides organized "hangar
flying" focused on building flying knowledge and skills. The pro
gram's network promotes a safety culture through continued education and be
lieves that we develop safety and proficiency through education and real li
fe experience. Monthly meetings offer an opportunity to share in-flight exp
eriences and valuable safety tips. Through the FAA Safety Program, aviation
professionals provide informative WINGS presentations. Membership in the E
AA/VMC Club is encouraged but not required to participate in this meeting.

bsp;\n\n\nWhat is the EAA/VMC Club?\nThe EAA/VMC Club is modeled
after the popular IMC Club concept which provides organized “hang
ar flying” focused on building proficiency in instrument flying. The E
AA/VMC Club will do the same, but for pilots who are not instrument rated a
nd fly primarily under visual flight rules and VMC.\n\n\nWhat is
the purpose of EAA/VMC Club?\nAt EAA/VMC Club, our aim is to promote VFR&nb
sp;flying, proficiency, and safety. Along with monthly local meetings
, we offer a resource-rich website which provides an electronic experience
base.\nOur intent is to create a community of pilots to share information,
provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety and build profic
iency in general aviation. EAA/VMC Club offers monthly meetings in wh
ich pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences.\n\n\nDo you nee
d to bring anything?\nFirst, bring your thoughts or story and be willing to
share them with the group. This meeting is very interactive. P
articipation by the group is a fundamental element of the EAA/VMC
Club meeting.\nOthers have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their
flight manual, GPS manual, and charts. If you navigate with an iPad,
bring it along.\n\n\nWho can attend?\nThis meeting is open to all current,
non-current, and future pilots.\n\n\n \n\n\nFor more information abou
